PRISME : Mental Health Detection and Intervention Programme
Law enforcement officers regularly encounter individuals in psychiatric crisis. A better understanding of mental health disorders can make all the difference in these situations.
To address this issue, the psychiatric emergency team at Sainte-Anne Hospital developed a three-hour training program combining theoretical foundation with hands-on simulations.
The program has already been completed by more than 300 police officers across the Île-de-France region and is referenced by the National Police Academy. The program now has the support of the Erié Foundation. The goal: rethink the teaching materials to make them more dynamic and more firmly grounded in real-life experience. It will then be rolled out nationally, supported by a network of departmental trainers, and extended out to firefighters.
