PROJECT
Rehabilitation and Adapted Sports Activities (Rétablissement et activités sportives adaptées)

Physical activity is still not sufficiently integrated into care pathways, despite strong evidence of its effectiveness in alleviating depressive symptoms.
The organization “Je bouge pour mon moral” offers people with depression a free 12-week program consisting of one weekly session of adapted physical activity, including Nordic walking and strength training. Participants exercise in peer groups, under professional supervision. Local partners then provide follow-up support to encourage individuals to continue their efforts independently over the long term.
The results are significant: the program is associated with a 50% reduction in depressive symptoms, as well as improvements in social connections, self-esteem, and overall physical fitness.
Already rolled out in 10 cities in the Grand Est region, the program is now expanding into the Hauts-de-France, Nouvelle-Aquitaine, and Occitanie regions with support from the Erié Foundation. The goal is to support 2,000 participants by 2026. The initiative also aims to establish a national framework for sharing best practices on using physical activity to prevent and manage depression.
