Restructuring and Revitalization of the Mutual Support Groups Network (Refonte et dynamisation du réseau des Groupes d’Entraide Mutuelle (GEM)
Mutual Support Groups (GEM) offer people living with mental health conditions a space for peer support, social connection, and assistance, complementing their medical care.
The Inter-GEM Federation (FIGEM) brings these organizations together at the national level and leads a project aimed at strengthening their development and recognition throughout the country.
With the support of the Erié Foundation, FIGEM seeks to structure and equip the GEM network. This ambition is organized around three pillars: the creation of a national platform listing these organizations and their activities; the establishment of new GEMs dedicated to young people and people experiencing homelessness; and the pursuit of research and advocacy efforts to promote greater recognition of the experiential knowledge and agency of those affected.
