PROJECT
Research program for the Unit for Difficult Patients
AP-HP, Assistance Publique – Hôpitaux de Paris, is the university hospital center for Paris and the surrounding Île-de-France region. The center groups together 38 hospitals that collectively treat 8.3 million patients every year. The AP-HP Foundation works directly with AP-HP teams to support research and the organization of care.
The Erie Foundation is supporting Professor Carine Karachi’s research project to better understand and treat severe and resistant pathological aggression in patients with psychiatric disorders. The project studies deep brain stimulation (DBS) as an effective and safe treatment for patients with this form of aggression, for whom the treatments available to date have failed and therapeutic management remains complex.
